State of Oklahoma Has Issued a Waste and Recycling Workers Week Proclamation

STATE OF OKLAHOMA

Proclamation

WHEREAS, the citizens of Oklahoma recognize the June 17th in 2022 as Waste and Recycling Workers Week; and

WHEREAS, Oklahoma is home to industry veterans who are mentoring a new generation of waste and recycling workers to carry the legacy in Oklahoma; and

WHEREAS, the people employed by local refuse collection and hauling companies work tirelessly in all types of environments, and at risk to themselves, to provide significant contributions to public health and the welfare of our citizens; and

WHEREAS, in 2022, Oklahoma will safely process more than 5.4 million tons of waste and recyclables brought to facilities across the state; and

WHEREAS, over 1.4 million households and businesses across Oklahoma depend on the proper collection of recyclables in order to promote the creation of products by local manufacturers in the state, creating a full circle economic loop; and

WHEREAS, the State of Oklahoma values and celebrates our local sanitation industry employees for their commitment to our residents, businesses, and communities in keeping our neighborhoods and streets clean, safe and beautiful;

NOW THEREFORE, I, Governor J. Kevin Stitt, do hereby proclaim June 12 – 18, 2022 as

“Waste and Recycling Worker Week”

in the State of Oklahoma

In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Oklahoma to be affixed.

Done at the Capitol, in the City of Oklahoma City, this eighteenth day of February, in the Year of Our Lord two thousand and twenty-two, and the State of Oklahoma in the one hundred and fourteenth year.
