National Waste and Recycling Workers Week
and
National Waste and Recycling Workers Day
WHEREAS, the nation annually celebrates June 17 as National Waste and Recycling Workers Day and this year will celebrate the week of June 12, 2022, as National Waste and Recycling Workers Week; and
WHEREAS, the workers employed in the waste and recycling industry the serve our community make significant contributions to the health and welfare of Prince William county residents; and
WHEREAS, proper collection and handling of waste and recyclable materials are vital to a safe and clean community by preventing disease, litter and illegal dumping; and
WHEREAS, the County has recognized this celebration of the waste and recycling industry since 2014; and
WHEREAS, the County’s Public Works Department will have programs to thank workers in the waste and recycling industry that serve our community;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Prince William Board of County Supervisors declares the week of June 12, 2022 as National Waste and Recycling Workers Week and proclaims June 17, 2022 as the official recognition of National Waste and Recycling Workers Day;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Prince William Board of County Supervisors encourages everyone to participate in thanking the workers in the waste and recycling industry who make a positive impact in our community.
