Yesterday we were at the #Massachusetts #statehouse on behalf of National Waste & Recycling Association to testify on the Slow Down to Get Around bill. This legislation will require motorists to slow down and safely move over when they see a waste or recycling vehicle on the side of the road – a law that has been passed in 29 states (including Vermont and New York).

Pictured here, left to right, Steve Changaris of NWRA, Jim Arciero for State Representative of Massachusetts, Juan Cabrera, Casella residential driver, Massachusetts State Senator Joan B. Lovely, Jack Manning, Casella General Manager, and Ben Harvey President of E.L. Harvey & Sons.

Did you know waste and recycling collection is the fifth most dangerous occupation according to The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics? Even without a law in place, you can do your part now by slowing down and moving over while our teams do their job to keep your communities clean and safe.
