Coloring Contest Winner Visits the Jax Facility with a Special Touch-A-Truck Tour
Elijah Harris, age 8, of Jacksonville, Fla., won 3rd place in our “Brightening the World” Earth Day Coloring Contest and was treated to a special tour of the facility and a tour of the big rigs!
Elijah brought his brother, mother, and friends on a special tour of the Meridian Waste Jacksonville Hauling facility. The group toured the facility to see how it runs from the front office through loading a trash cart into a rear load garbage truck (the type often seen on residential routes in YOUR neighborhood!).
Chief Marketing Officer Mary O’Brien, General Manager Jon Hipp, Operations Manager Ricky Rochester, and Maintenence Manager Adam Foltz from Meridian Waste were on-hand for tours and are pictured in our gallery below. Special guests: Claire and Ellie Perkins, Kim, Luke, and Elijah Harris.
Celebrating Waste and Recycling Workers 2022
Meridian Waste celebrates National Waste and Recycling Workers Week, June 12 – 18, 2022. Frontline workers in waste and recycling are often unsung heroes who keep the community clean, performing their duties in the early morning hours, in the cold of winter, and in the heat of summer.
Over the past few years, their roles have been brought to the forefront as operations of most industries came to a halt. These workers have continued to keep our clean and safe, removing regular household waste and volumes of medical and bio-hazardous waste while safely and responsibly disposing of these materials.
This week, we celebrate these superheroes for their contributions to our communities, day in and day out! Thank you!
