Our Roots

Waste & Recycling Workers Week is a week-long celebration honoring the individuals in the waste and recycling industry for their hard work and dedication. Created by John D. Arwood in 2012, Waste & Recycling Workers Week was quickly adopted by companies, cities and states across the nation.

Throughout the week, cities, companies and individual citizens recognize the commitment of our men and women of the waste industry. It is too often a thankless job and we encourage communities from coast to coast and around the world to join us in making time to thank each and every one of these indispensable individuals.

Waste & Recycling Workers Week LLC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to continued recognition of waste and recycling workers. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Waste & Recycling Workers Week uses tax free donations to improve the lives of our workers and their families. We encourage you to join us in our efforts to show our appreciation to the workers in our industry every day and especially the week of June 17th.
